The hue & cry being raised about the trees at Barton Springs Pool is a mixed blessing. The trees have been taken for granted for a long time, so it’s good that people are finally taking notice of their condition. On the other hand, along with concern, a lot of misinformation has been spread around. In the long run, getting care for the trees is part of the vision and plan that is slowly bringing a new stewardship to the Pool.
Watching the trees slowly
Watching trees decay is even slower than watching grass grow. It takes a lot of careful looking over a long time. Yet there have been some pretty glaring examples at Barton Springs Pool. From large dead limbs to rotting holes in huge trunks, the evidence has been there to see for those who look.
